VAWA Prosecution

PURPOSE: To improve the ability of the state’s prosecutors to effectively prosecute the following cases:
  • Sexual violence;
  • Stalking;
  • Dating violence, and
  • Domestic violence crimes

 
OBJECTIVES: The objectives of the Violence Against Women Resource Prosecutor are:

  • To provide continuing professional education opportunities to all prosecuting attorneys and assistant prosecuting attorneys to improve their ability to effectively prosecute sexual violence, stalking, dating violence and domestic violence related crimes;
  • To provide quality, up to date legal reference materials and training to assist prosecutors, law enforcement officers, first responders and other health and safety professionals in more effective prosecution of sexual violence, stalking, dating violence and domestic violence related crimes.
  • To provide a dedicated liaison between and among the state’s prosecutors, law enforcement, first responders, health and safety professionals and the community to work for better coordination in the prosecution of sexual violence, stalking, dating violence and domestic violence related crimes.
