Working to assure that West Virginians with developmental disabilities receive the services, supports, and other forms of assistance they need to exercise self-determination and achieve independence, productivity, integration, and inclusion in the community.

 
   

   

The West Virginia CASA Board and Staff develops and strengthens CASA programs throughout West Virginia through technical assistance, training, public awareness activities, research and resource development to assure quality volunteer advocacy for every abused/neglected child in the West Virginia court system.

The Crime Victims Compensation Act establishes a fund which pays certain compensation and medical benefits to innocent victims of crime.  The program is administered by the West Virginia Court of Claims.

The West Virginia Child Advocacy Network is a membership organization dedicated to helping local communities respond to allegations of child abuse in ways that are effective and efficient – and put the needs of child victims first. The West Virginia Child Advocacy Network provides training, support, technical assistance and leadership on a statewide level to local children’s and child advocacy centers and communities throughout West Virginia responding to reports of child abuse and neglect.

Family Counseling Connection provides individual, family, and group counseling by experienced, masters-level therapists. These professionals help individuals deal with situations involving a variety of family and relationship problems, anxiety, depression, sexual assault related issues, and many other situations. We also provide adult and juvenile sex offender treatment as a measure to prevent future abuse.

The Administration for Children and Families (ACF) is a federal agency funding state, territory, local, and tribal organizations to provide family assistance (welfare), child support, child care, Head Start, child welfare, and other programs relating to children and families.

Actual services are provided by state, county, city and tribal governments, and public and private local agencies. ACF assists these organizations through funding, policy direction, and information services.

For nearly 30 years, the Center has worked with consumers, state, local, and federal agencies to realize opportunities and tackle and overcome challenges for people with developmental and other disabilities of all ages. CED is West Virginia's only federally designated Center for Excellence in Disabilities providing resources and supports in all fifty-five counties of the state.
